Sri ramanujar is also called as Ilayaazhwar,yathirajar,emberumanar and udayavar.HIs jayanthi is celebrated in almost all vaishnava temples.yet there is a vast difference that in kooram where the udayavar sathumarai is being celebrated with Sri AAzhwan,His most beloved deciple among all his sishyas.In kooram temple Sri Ramanujar also having sin mudra like Aazhwan as He is Acharyan to Sri Aazhwan.
A big thirumanjanam in the morning to both and will be followed by Thiruppavai sathumari.In the evening veedi procession for both of them and inthe night Thiruvaimozhi sathumarai.The serthi of an acharyan and sishyan can only be seen at kooram temple and photos enclosed may give you all their blessings.

This is the post about the NADA VAVI UTSAVAM of Sri Koorathazhwan held at kooram on 1.3.09,sunday.in a grand manner.On that day Sri Azhwan was taken in a pallakku to a place called CHITTERI means small lake which is at about 3 kilometers form kooram village.
There Sri Azhwan had a good Thirumanjanam by 2 p.m. and with a grand flower alankaram He returned to the temple by night after bless thousands of devotees.

The annual prathishta utsavam of Sri Koorathazhwan is being celebrated for three days from 29.5.08 to 31.5.08 at kooram the birth place of SriAzhwan.
Sri Koorathaazhwan was decorated in a grand manner and was taken in a big pushpa pallakku on 30 th night.
Thirumanjanam was done on all the three days and Sri Nammazhwars 1000 poems were recited by many vaishnavas.

The Kooram Temple authorities have planned to conduct an utsavam called NADA VAAVI for Sri Koorathazhwan on the 24th of Febrauary, 2008(coming sunday).

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE UTSAVAM

The utsavam is being celebrated in concern with the last Hastham Star
which was the jayanthi of Sri Koorathazhwan.Since azhwan was strained much
in the annual utsavam of previous month the utsavar (idol) is going to
be taken to a cool place and be given an abhishekam(relaxing celestial
bath).The upachara utsavam is called NADA VAAVI UTSAVAM. We request one
and all to attend this utsavam without fail and get the blessings of
SRI KOORATHAZHWAN.

The utsavam schedule is as follows:

9.00 a.m purappdu to CHITTERI, a place near kooram.

1.00 p.m Thirumanjanan (Abhishegam )

4.00 p.m Thiruppavai Sathumarai.

7.00 p.m PATHI ULA IN THE PANDHAL.

10.00 p.m. Return to Sannidhi.

Today is the star birthday of EMBAR, a great Acharyan, cousin brother of Swamy Ramanuja.He was born in Maduramangalam, a village near Sriperumbudhur the birth place of Swamy Ramanuja.He was born in Punarvasu star in the tamil month of Thai.

He saved Sri Ramanuja from the evil plans of Yadavaprakasar, his Teacher and hence helped our Srivaishnava cult.He was dragged to vaishnavam by the intervention of Sri Ramanuja and Tirumalai nambigal.He was named as EMBAR, the shortened form of the name EMBERUMANAR, the other name of Swamy Ramanuja.He was also the teacher of Sri Parasara Bhattar, the son of Sri Koorathazwan.

This post is about the THIRU PAVADAI UTSAVAM which is going to be performed in Kooram.This utsavam is celebrated in concern with an incident where one day it happens to rain very heavily in GOKULAM, as a result of the anger of INDRA, the king of devas on yadhavas for the reason being, that they have not given his share of sacrifice which they usually do once a year and instead gave it to THE GOVARDHANA GIRI, as directed by Lord KRISHNA.But ultimately INDRA realises his mistake and surrenders to Lord Krishna and comes to Gokulam to pay his respects to Lord Krishna.

In memory of this event the THIRU PAVADAI UTSAVAM is celebrated in every Vaishnava temple by offering a mountain of rice,vegetables and fruits to Krishna
and then distributing this prasadham i.e. ANUGRAHAM to all bakthas.

To day is Sri Ramanujar Jayanthi at kooram sri koorathazhwan temple was celebrated in a
grand manner.Sri Ramanujar born in 1017 and this year is His 990 year of born.
Though He born in Sriperunboodhoor a place near Chennai, being Acharyan for sri azhwan
His jayanthi uthsavam was done in kooram with Azhwan.

In todays message of our blog let us read about Sri Peria Nambigal and enjoy his life history.

Sri peria Nambigal born after 21 years from the birth of Sri Alavandar.He born in the year 998
in the month of margazhi and in kettai star of the amsam of KUMUDHAR, a nithyasuri of bhagavan. He is the Main Acharya of Sri Ramanuja, out of His five acharyas.He only did
SAMASRAYANAM to Ramanujar at MADHURANTHAKAM sthalam.
SRI PERIA NAMBIGAL sacrificed his life as well as his eyes along with KOORATHAZHWAN
in Chola Raja Court for our Srivaishnava Dharsanam.
He surrendered his son PUNDAREEKAR and daughter ATHUZHAI to the feet of Swami
Ramanujar.He did andhima samskaras (funeral ceremony ) to MARANERI NAMBIGAL,
a beloved and most impotant deciple of SRI ALAVANDAR,who belongs to panjama varnam
i.e low caste by birth.

In todays message from our blog we will enjoy reading SRI ALAVANDARS VAIBHAVAM . Sri Alavandar was born in the year 976 in aadi month uthrashada
star to Eswara Bhattazhwan at Veeranarayanapuram.He is the grandson of
Sriman Nathamunigal.He studied poorvameemamsa and uttarameemamsa under
Sri Mahabhashya Bhattar and also studied tharka, vyakarana,and other related
sastras and became a scholor.He once defeated a vidhwan by name AAKKIYAZHWAN in tarka sastra and got a portion of kingdom from the king and
enjoying the same.
As Sriman Nathamunigal wished him to be a srivaishnavite and has to take the
Acharya peedam at Srirangam, his sishyar Manakkal Nambigal approched him
and explain about the SRIRANGASRI and at once Sri Alavandar rushed to
Srirangam and was blessed by SriRanganathar, became the Srivaishnava sanyasi
hence Alavandar was the first Jeer in our srivaishnava sampradayam,
He was administrating the Srirangam Temple and expecting some one to be
his follower for the post.He heared about Sri Ramanujar who was at kanchi at
that time studying under YADHAVAPRAKASAR, a adhvaitha sanyasi.
He came kanchi and saw him from faraway and blessed him as his successor.
He lived for 125 years and rendered a great service to Srivaishnavam by
writing about eight grandhas ( books )

To day message is about the life of SRIMAN NATHAMUNIGAL the first and foremost
Acharya of our srivaishnava sampradayam. Sriman Nathamunigal born in veeranarayanapuram
kattumannarkoil, in 823 in aani month in Anusha star. He was master in astanga yoga a sastra of
8 yogas. He travelled all along northern kshetras along with his family and stayed in Govardhan
for some years. He was recalled by the MANNANAR of veeranarayanapuram to do service to him

He , with the permission of MANNANAR liked to have darsan of south divyadesams and
He went to TIRUKUDANDHAI kumbakonam to have darsan of ARAAVAMUDHAPERUMAL
and heared the vaishnavites reciting Thiruvaimozhi of Nammalwar about tirukudandhai.
Sriman Nathamunigal was impressed by that asked them that if they know all the 1000 songs
of Nammalwar.They replied that they know only 10 songs about ARAVADA PERUMAL.
Then he went to ALWARTHIRUNAGARI the birthplace of Nammalwar and enquired.
The persons there told him that they know some more songs in Thiruvaimozhi and apart from
that they know KANNINUNSIRUTHAMBU a prabandham tributing SRINAMMALWAR
and if anybody recite it 12000 times they will get the darsan of SRINAMMALWAR.
SRIMAN NATHAMUNIGAL , since know ashtanga yogam recited 12000 times of kanninun
siruthambu prabandham and got the darsan of Nammalwar as they said.
SRINAMMALWAR gave 4000 pasurams of all 10 alwars with the comments for the same
though Nathamunigal liked to know only 1000 pasurams.
Hence SRIMAN NATHAMUNIGAL , the first Acharya as well as the founder and the
publisher of Srivaishnava works of alwars.
He then went SRIRANGAM , and in front of SRIRANGANATHAR, He demonstrated 4000
pasurams with ABHINAYAMS, which is called ARAIRSEVAI.
He lived for 93 years and rendered service to SRIMAN NARAYANAN AND LEFT MANY
deciples to teach so many arts to his grandson SRI ALAVANDAR, YAMUNACHARYAR.

as I mentioned in the last message bhagavan sriman narayanan himself born as alwars
and acharyas means He created his hamsas i.e characters as alwars and acharyas that is
why they are called ABHINAVA DASAVATARAS and asfaras acharyas concerned they are His
hamsaboothas.so the alwars and acharyas are also equal to him and from our level we are
worshipping them as worshipping HIM.

In ramavataram Srirama felt the greatness of acaharyas like VASHISHTA, BHARATHWAJA,
VISWAMITHRA, RISHYASRINGHA, DHANDAKARANYARISHIS ETC and he would be like to take such
an avatara of acharya in his some other birth in the earth.
Hence in KIRSHNAVATARA He gave Bhagavadgita to Arjuna and His deciple and showof Him
as GEETHACHARYAN. swami Manavalamamunigal in his prabhandham upadesarathinamalai says:

Alwargalaiyum arulicheyalgalaiyum thazhva ninapavargal tham naragil
veezhvargal enru ninaithu nenje nee avarpal senru anuga koocithiru.

Sriman Narayanan is the first Acharyan in our srivaishnava sampradayam
He in turn gave upadesam of MAHAMANTRA to Nara at Badri sthalam.By chanting
this mahamantra everyone should attain the lotus feet of HIM .
But against his dreams humanbeings still wants only materialistic life
and not intersting to reach HIM.
Hence he came to this earth by taking AVATARAS.except in some avatars
he is not able to convince lot of human beings and his dasavataras are known
to everybody.
Not satisfying himself HE again take some avataras like humans to catch
them as elephants are ised to catch forest elephants and deers too.
These avataras of Him OUR GREAT ALWARS who in turn create,chant and gave
in total 4000 versus pasurams about sriman narayanan.
Though they wrote these pasurams either they have published them to people
or taught to some sishyas i.e deciples to propaganda the same.
Hence this time also He is not able to collect more human beings to his side.
swami manvalamamunigal in his upadesarathinamalai prapandham narrates the alwars:
